Private recovery page
Recovery kit
This page belongs to one person and the relatives they chose. If that is not you, close it.
Before you start
- Use a device you trust, not a shared or public computer.
- Do not type these passwords into a page someone links you.
- The recovery password is not the Bitwarden master password.
Unlock the data keys
Enter the recovery password from the sealed letter or the drive. It is never stored or sent anywhere.
Start here
- Sign in to the e-mail account today. Free Tuta accounts are deleted after six months without a sign-in. The password is in Bitwarden; the Bitwarden master password and the two-step recovery code are on the sealed letter.
- Open Bitwarden and keep it signed in while you work through the list below.
- Work down the account list, one line at a time. Each entry names the Bitwarden item to open and what to do with it.
- Restore the files last, on a Mac in Chrome. The library takes hours, so start it and leave the tab open. Files already in the folder are skipped, so it can be stopped and restarted.
This page is not a will and gives no legal advice. Do not change the Bitwarden master password until you have everything you need.
Restore data
Browse a restic snapshot and download files. Everything happens in this browser; nothing is uploaded.
Restoring the whole library needs a browser that can write into a folder: Chrome or Edge on a Mac. Safari can still download single files. Nothing is uploaded, and files already in the folder are skipped, so a stopped restore can be run again.
